Located in glamorous Mayfair and just under a mile long, Park Lane runs along the eastern side of Hyde Park connecting Marble Arch on its northern end to Hyde Park Corner on its south.
It’s an ideal base for all visitors arriving on flights to London, offering access to the best of London’s shops, restaurants attractions.
Originally a country lane, today Park Lane is one of the most fashionable of London’s streets.
The desirable status of this notable road dates to the 1700s when a number of large mansions, such as the Duke of Westminster’s Grosvenor House, were constructed.
Now a busy three lane road, few of those mansions remain. They line Park Lane’s eastern side mixed along side a variety of mostly up market hotels, banks, luxury sports car showrooms, exclusive shops and world class restaurants.
On the edge of Mayfair with Knightsbridge merely steps away, Park Lane is in view of Buckingham Palace. Major attractions, such as St. Stephen’s Tower (home of Big Ben) and Parliament, Trafalgar Square and a host of London’s most celebrated museums are easy to reach on foot from here.
Of course, Park Lane runs along Hype Park, a wonderful setting for a stroll anytime of the year. Other gloriously green areas of London, including Green Park, St James’s Park and Kensington Gardens are only moments away as well. Being so close to so much greenery means getting away from the hustle and bustle of Central London, if only for a quick lunch, couldn’t be easier.
For those in need of retail therapy, never fear! Park Lane isn’t just for walks in the park. Shopping fanatics will be pleased to know that Harrods and Harvey Nichols are a short walk away, as are rest of Knightsbridge’s shops and the retail meccas of Bond Street, Oxford Circus Piccadilly and Regents Street. For foodies, how about an extravagant meal at Nobu or tea at Gordon Ramsay at Claridge? It’s all onPark Lane … or ridiculously close!
However, with such a central location, Park Lane is well serviced by public transport and a steady stream of cabs. So, there’s no need to walk anywhere! Several bus routes pass along the street. A handful of nearby Tube stations – Marble Arch, Hyde Park Corner, Green Parkand Bond Street – ensure access to the rest of London. Park Lane is also one of the easiest places in London to hail a cab.
Need more reasons to stay on Park Lane? Well, how about the marvelous accommodations. The Dorchester, Park Lane Hilton and Grosvenor House are here as well as a range of other hotels and accommodations along this street and nearby. Whether you live like a celebrity or simple hope to catch a glimpse of some, Park Lane’s the place to be!
