Las Vegas officials expect to set a new record for the number New Year’s revelers celebrating in Sin City this weekend.
More than 314,000 people are expected to descend upon the city ahead of the New Year’s Eve celebration. That would shatter the existing record.
One reason for such a huge increase in visitors is timing. With New Year’s Eve falling on a weekend, many were persuaded to make the trip to Vegas and celebrate in style.
Whatever the reason, tourism officials hope it sets a trend for 2012. The city has been on a post-recession rebound and could use a bit of momentum to build on.
