Forget Sit-Down-Dining, Dallas Food Trucks Offer Tasty Options for Meals on Wheels

This blog post was updated on October 11, 2018.

There are plenty of places to enjoy a good meal in Dallas, including on the side of the street.

Dallas, like most other metro cities in America, has quickly embraced the food truck craze. Trucks of all types have sprouted up offering a fun selection of meals to enjoy on-the-go.

Dallas’ food trucks have even gained national recognition recently – Food Network’s new show, “Eat St.,” is holding a competition and four of the 51 trucks competing for a sport on the reality show hail from Dallas.

Foodies soon boarding flights to Dallas should try these trucks on for size (and be sure to pack their appetites):

Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe: Here, grilled cheese is the name of the game. Pick your bread, pick your cheese, pick your meat, pick your topping and enjoy one melty, gooey grilled cheese sandwich. The gourmet mobile truck (rolling around a number of cities) offers a choice or artisan breads, cheeses, meats and toppings (including grilled tomatoes).

Nammi Food Truck: Love Vietnamese food? Nammi Food Truck, started by two architects, aims to make Banh Mis for everyone to enjoy. If that’s not your thing, there’s also a selection of Vietnamese tacos, spring rolls, bowls and refreshing drinks like fresh basil mint lemonade.

Red Jett Sweets: Sometimes, it’s fun to skip the entrée and head straight for dessert. Red Jet Sweets makes that easy to accomplish. This tasty food truck serves up a delicious mix of cupcakes, such as the Red Jett Velvet and Vanilla Echo. But, it also offers a rotating selection of confectionary cupcake goodness. January’s special cupcakes pay homage to a recent appearance by the ladies behind the truck (Christina Jett-Meyer and Natalie Gamez) on “Cupcake Wars.” The theme of the show was the musical “Wicked,” so the two created an entire special menu available now, including Glinda’s Peppermint Cloud with chocolate cake, white chocolate cream cheese filling and peppermint butter cream, as well as other fun creations like Oz’s Own Poppy Seed Pucker, a lemon poppy seed creation.

The Bacon Wagon: Set in Fort Worth, the Bacon Wagon is all about (you guessed it) bacon. It’s got bacon sandwiches, bacon soup, bacon chili, and more bacon goodness. Specials have been known to include bacon cupcakes, bacon cookies and even bacon-flavored popcorn. For those in Dallas, The Bacon Wagon has been known to make the trek into town … so don’t worry. There could be a bacon fix heading your way soon.

TX Delizioso: This truck isn’t open yet, but it’s already creating quite the buzz in the Dallas area. When it finally does park and open, it will be the city’s first pizza truck. But foodies can expect much more than the averagep pie. It will also serve up Italian entrees, soups, and salads. Owners have even partnered with Go Texan to source local products for all of their creations.
