New Cooking Classes for Kids at London Intercontinental’s Cookbook Cafe

It’s one of London’s most luxuriant meals and my vote for best brunch in town. Now brunch at Cookbook Cafe also can be an excellent opportunity for the little ones to learn a thing or two from a top chef.

In an especially family friendly move to ensure everybody at the brunch table can get the most out of their dining experience, Cookbook Cafe at the Intercontinental London Park Lane hotel has launched a new Seedling Series Kids Cook programme to get kids to cook for themselves while learning about where their food comes from and all the steps it goes through before reaching the table. Cookbook Cafe Executive Chef, Paul Bates, has created the series of twice-monthly seasonal classes for children aged five to eight to be educational, interactive and – most importantly – fun. Parents are free to join in or sit back and relax while their kids are engaged in something fun and educational.

The Kids Cook classes are available to children attending weekend brunch at Cookbook Cafe and cost £10 per child. The first session is soon – Saturday March 9th – and will have a spring theme to “celebrate the start of spring by making mum a fantastic edible garden and a card for Mothering Sunday” (this same weekend is Mother’s Day weekend here in the UK). At the end of the session participants will receive a selection of seeds so they can continue their explorations at home.

Subsequent Kids Cook dates include March 23rd and the 6th and 20th of April, with plenty more classes scheduled well into the summer.

Cookbook Cafe is located inside the InterContinental London Park Lane at 1 Hamilton Place, London W1J 3QY. The nearest London Underground station is Hyde Park Corner.
Weekend brunch at Cookbook Cafe runs from 12.30pm to 3.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays and costs £49 per adult (£15 for under 12s and complimentary for children under six). Cookery tips for children or not, weekend brunch includes unlimited access to a seasonal and sustainable market table featuring quality items from local suppliers, AYCE hot mains, an omelette/pancake/waffle station, bottomless Bellinis and more.
