While much of the rest of the nation starts to bundle up and prepare for the coming cold, Miami heats things up with a fantastic month of events. Here’s a look at just a few excellent reason to visit Miami this October.
Sneaker Con
University of Miami
October 5th
The “premier traveling event for sneaker connoisseurs” returns for Miami for a day of buying, selling and trading “some of the most sought after footwear on the market”
Festival Miami
University of Miami
October 1st to November 1st
2013 is the 30th anniversary of this month long series of concerts put on by the University of Miami. This year’s festival will see Arturo Sandoval, Bruce Hornsby, Dr John, Joan Osborne, local star Gloria Estefan and many many more performers take the stage.
Biscayne Bay
October 12th and 13th
As much a competition to see who can party the hardiest as it is a boat race, the Columbus Day Regatta (and epic after parties) is an annual event celebrating “boating, nudity and drinking off the coast of Miami Beach.”
Miami Broward Carnival 2013
Sun Life Stadium
October 13th
More than 20 bands in a vibrant parade for a jubilant crowd of 25,000 fans.
SoBe Seafood Festival
Lummus Park
October 17th to the 19th
A new event for the Miami Beach social and culinary calendars, the SoBe Seafood Festival featuring activities with local restaurateurs, food gardens, interactive villages, signature cocktails, beer gardens, live entertainment, chef demonstration stations all to raise money for community educational initiatives.
Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon and Freaky 4-mile
South Point Park
October 26th
The Miami Beach Halloween Half Marathon is a costume themed running event on the famous Miami Beach boardwalk. Not up for the whole half (or craving even more opportunity to run)? There’s “freaky” four mile event as well.
