Celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving in Toronto

Canadian Thanksgiving takes place on the second Saturday of every October. This year the date falls on the 14th. Differences between the Canadian and American versions of the holiday are nuanced with both celebrations centering around a family feast of turkey with all the trimmings. Essentially, Canadian Thanksgiving is just a lot earlier and further north – but just as delicious!

Barque Smokehouse

One of Canada’s most talked about BBQ restaurants, Barque Smokehouse is a meat lover’s paradise. Fans of seasonal produce, quality wine and artisan beers will be right at home here as well. Ask about Barque’s whole and half bird hickory-smoked turkeys served up for Thanksgiving.

Enjoy Thanksgiving with friends and family with a traditional feast showcasing Ontario meat and produce at this historic heritage museum on the banks of the Humber River. Thanksgiving dinner takes place in museum’s Historic Brewery Restaurant. Thanksgiving reservations are required.

Casa Loma

Toronto’s ver own “castle” will host its annual Thanksgiving brunch on Monday the 14th with a menu featuring “pumpkin patch, parsnip and carrot soup with Riesling poached pears; roasted wild Pacific salmon with kale from the Castle Garden, citrus Béarnaise; green and purple cabbage slaw, doubled smoked bacon and apple cider vinaigrette; and plenty more including carved turkey of course with “all the classic fixins.”

EPIC Restaurant at the Fairmont Royal York

If hoping to dine at the Fairmont Royal York hotel’s highly rated Epic Restaurant, you’d be wise to make a reservation whatever the occasion. Thanksgiving at this upscale luxuriant restaurant with a menu featuring “premium quality regional ingredients” is by no means an exception.

Globe Bistro

“Think global – eat local” at this cherished “neighborhood fine dining” establishment. Last year’s three course pre-fixe Thanksgiving menu cost $35.
