Celebrate National Afternoon Tea Week across Britain: August 11-17

It’s one of Britain’s best loved foodie traditions and a delightful opportunity for visitors from abroad to get a taste of the local culture … and now a whole week’s been set aside to celebrate the ever so British institution of the afternoon tea.

From Monday the 11th of August to Sunday the 17th, venues across the British Isles will present a variety of opportunities for tea aficionados to give a raised pinky in salute to stylish snacking between lunch and dinner with delectable mix of themed menus, special hotel offers, discounts and more – with many of the specials lasting beyond the designated week and throughout the whole month of August.

We created Afternoon Tea Week to celebrate this most British of dining traditions and to give tourists and locals alike the opportunity to step inside and experience some of the country’s most exquisite afternoon tea venues. From famous five-star hotels in London to a castle in Gloucestershire, luxury stores to double decker buses, there’s something for everyone.

During National Afternoon Tea Week, people will be able to enjoy 25% off a range of afternoon teas. Iconic afternoon tea destinations in London which are lined up to participate include The Dochester, the UK’s most awarded afternoon tea venue; the Intercontinental Park Lane with its “new afternoon tea menu that cleverly evolves with the seasons” and features the best of British produce; and (as legend has it) the historic home of the afternoon tea, The Langham London’s Palm Court just off Regent Street. One fun activity in London happening outside the typical tea venues is BB Bakery’s Afternoon Tea Bus Tour in a “vintage London double decker bus … taking in some of London’s best sights, whilst you indulge in the fabulous afternoon tea.”

But as the name implies, this isn’t just a London thing; it’s nationwide with teas and related events running through out England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and the Channel Islands. From two-for-one deals to gluton free menus, there’s something for everyone whether you’re well acquainted with this eloquent tradition or you’re planning to indulge in your first ever afternoon tea.
