The animal kingdom was born to be wild—and Denmark gets it. By 2019, the Givskud Zoo is slated to complete phase one of a cage and fence-free design project. Faith in humanity = restored. Visitors to the zoo’s three main sections—Africa, America, and Asia—will be protected by natural barriers like waterways and elevated landscapes.
Spherical pods will protect humans, who will view the zoo’s residents in cage-free recreations of their natural habitats. We’re just trying not to freak out over the elephants. Because OMG, we’re totally concocting an irrational plan that involves befriending all of the elephants!
“Rather than looking at a single animal alone in a cage, which is a very unnatural way of experiencing an animal, sometimes you’re outnumbered by the animals and you see them in a real habitat,” Bjarke Ingels, founder of BIG (the architecture team responsible for the design), explained to USA TODAY Network.
I just have two questions: Who wants to come with me to Denmark? and How much body fur would it take for the Givskud Zoo to adopt me?
