For a long while, London has lagged behind other major European cities when it comes to providing free Wi-Fi access in public spaces.
That is about to change, however, thanks to a new partnership with Nokia. The Finnish phone maker will reportedly bring free Wi-Fi to 12 popular areas in Central London beginning this week as part of a two month pilot program.
The pilot areas will include Oxford Street, Knightsbridge, Sloane Square, Victoria, and Westminster among others. If successful, the program could be expanded to other places throughout the city in early 2012.
According to Ad Age, there will be no complicated registration process involved. Users will simply log on to the network, accepts the terms and conditions, and start browsing.
