Las Vegas Atop the List of America’s Fastest Growing Cities of the Decade

The results of the 2010 Census have been made public and now experts are going over the data, trying to figure out where the American public is moving and why.

 

Forbes recently published an article based on the census data that looked at the fastest growing cities in America.

 

Not so surprisingly, the authors found that population growth was heavily influenced by job growth.  Americans seem to be moving where the jobs are.

 

Once again, Las Vegas found itself atop the list as it remained a major tourist draw and source of job creation on the decade. However, Raleigh, North Carolina was right on Sin City’s heels, matching its 48.1% population increase.

 

A list of the top 10 cities can be found below. (Please note: these rankings are based on the population of entire metropolitan areas, not just the populations within city limits):

 

1.    Las Vegas (48.1 % population increase)
2.    Raleigh, North Carolina (48.1 % population increase)
3.    Austin, Texas (37.3% population increase)
4.    Charlotte, North Carolina (32.1% population increase)
5.    Riverside, San-Bernardino, California (29.8% population increase)
6.    Orlando, Florida (29.8% population increase)
7.    Phoenix, Arizona (28.9% population increase)
8.    Houston, Texas (26.1% population increase)
9.    San Antonia, Texas (25.2% population increase)
10.  Atlanta, Georgia (24% population increase)
