A new American Express Co. survey suggests that more Americans plan to travel this summer than in 2010, even despite rising gas prices.
According to the numbers, 59% of Americans plan to travel this summer; that’s up from 51% in the previous year.
About 70% of those polled plan to travel with their immediate families. That number is also up from 45% in 2010.
The effects of the recession are still being felt, however. About 40% of travelers said that getting a good deal was a big factor in determining their vacation.
