US Airways reported a six percent increase in December traffic compared to the same month in 2009.

The biggest increase came in trans-Atlantic flights which saw a 21 percent surge. Regional carrier US Airways Express also reported a 15.6 percent rise in December traffic.

A contributing factor in the December surge was an increase in total seating capacity.

Seating capacity on US Airways flights rose about 4 percent while the occupancy rate rose 1.6 points to 80.4 percent overall.

For the year of 2010, US Airways reported a 2 percent increase in overall traffic compared to the previous year.
