Asian Art Museum
The Asian Art Museum was opened in the year 1996 & is amongst the most
significant museums in the city of San Francisco. It holds private
collection of Avery Brundage (an art collector). A part of his collection
was offered by him at the museum's opening & rest was added as a legacy
after his death in the year 1975. The collection of the museum comprises of
sculptures, paintings, ceramics, bronzes, jade carvings, &
architectural fragments from Korea, Japan, India, China, Iran, & other
Asian cultures.
Chinatown
San Francisco's Chinatown is both - the largest Chinatown outside of Asia,
and the oldest of its kind in North America. After being destroyed in an
earthquake, the Chinatown was rebuilt entirely in the Chinese style &
turned out to be more attractive. With temples, theaters, workshops, small
businesses, stores, antique & souvenir shops, teahouses, &
traditional pharmacies, it has become one of the major attraction of the
city.
