Hwange
Hwange is located near the international borders with Zambia and Botswana,
in north-western Zimbabwe. Hwange is the nearest largest city to the UNESCO
World Heritage Victoria Falls and a gateway to the Hwange National Park.
The national park is becoming one of the most popular safari destinations
due to its abundant wildlife. Spread across 15,000 square kilometres, the
park encompasses Kalahari woods, teak groves, flood flats, and grass
plains. Due to its proximity to the Victoria Falls, it is a prime spot to
camp and stay close to nature. The Hwange National Park is also home two
conservation centers, namely the Painted Dog Project Center and the
National Leopard Project. Over 400 species of birds, cheetahs, wild dogs,
African leopards, hyenas, cape dogs, and elephants roam freely in the park.
