Search Airline Tickets to Skwentna, Alaska

Skwentna is a Census-Designated Place on Iditarod Trail in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska, United States. It is part of Alaska Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is located at 61°52?46?N 151°15?59?W and is spread across 449.7 square miles. The city is served by a state-owned public-use airport known as Skwentna Airport (IATA: SKW).

You can safely assume that Skwentna is an alpha-place for adventure sports during the winters and visitors can help themselves to snowmobile and cross-country skiing, at the very least. As such, it would be best to arrive here in February to experience a 350-mile race called Iditarod Trail Invitational that combines skiing, mountain biking and snowshoeing adventures. Over the next few weeks, you can also attend the Iron Dog Snowmobile Race and the historic Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race here.

Wilderness Fishing Lodges
There is nothing better than fishing in summer season after enjoying a series of winter sports in Skwentna. The summers extend from June to August here, and you can best use this time of the year by catching various types of fish like the king salmon, pink salmon, sockeye salmon and silver salmon, rainbow trout, grayling, Dolly Varden and northern pikes. It would be recommended to get an accommodation in any of the several fly-in fishing lodges that are located close to the nearby Talachulitna River, Lake Creek and Fish Creek.
