Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens
The Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens is a museum. The house is a wooden structure and the second oldest building in the city. It has served home to numerous early bankers, businessmen, and political leaders including Bennet Blake, William Ochiltree, and Thomas J. Rusk. Located in its premises are heirloom gardens, a sugarcane mill, chicken coop, blacksmith shop, and a fully functioning smokehouse. The Durst-Taylor Historic House and Gardens holds annual Old-Fashioned Sweet Tooth Sugarcane event on second Saturday in the month of January.
