Mountain Home is a city situated amidst hills of the Ozark Mountains, Arkansas, US. This peaceful city is one of the well known vacation destinations in the country. Famous as the Twin Lakes Area, the Mountain Home lies between the Bull Shoals Lake and the Norfork Lake. The city features Bull Shoals-White River State Park boasting more than 100 campsites, picnic areas, trout stream, playgrounds, pavilions, trails and more. The park offers canoeing, hiking, camping, warm-water fishing, biking, and more. For the history lovers, Mountain Home has good number of attractions like the Casey House, the Baxter County Courthouse, and the Wolf House.
Oakridge Mountain Bike TrailLocated within Bull Shoals-White River State Park, the Oakridge Mountain Bike Trail has been built by the Bull Shoals-Lakeview Rotary Club. It is a multi use trail allowing both - mountain bikers and hikers to access the remote areas within the park. Along the trail run open meadows, creek crossings, roads, long downhills, and taxing uphills. Bike renting facility is available at the Camper Registration Center at the park.
Sunset Canoe Tour on Bull Shoals LakeEnjoy a canoe tour at the beautiful Bull Shoals Lake. Tour operators provide all needed gears and equipments to the travelers. Do not forget to contact park for advance booking of tickets. Do note that children less than 13 years of age should be accompanied by adults!
The Wolf HouseThe oldest public structure in the Arkansas region is the Wolf House. Constructed in the year 1829 as the county courthouse, it has been named after its builder and owner, Major Jacob Wolf. With the passage of time, the courthouse moved from this location, and the house was occupied by the Wolf Family until 1863. The structure went under restoration till 2001 and was reopened for the public in the year 2002.
