Lewisburg is a historical city in and the county seat of Greenbrier County in West Virginia, USA. The 19th century city is named after Col Andrew Lewis, a noted army general who had served in the American War of Independence. During its formative years, the city was built around a natural spring and has now graduated to a top-end tourist destination hallmarked by a laid-back ambiance, historic downtown and an aura of its Civil War history. This city is a launching pad to the nearby resort town of White Sulfur Springs that derives its name from an old clear spring of mineral water. If you’re coming to Lewisburg, you should not miss out on its two famous food festivals, Taste of Our Towns (in October) and the Chocolate Festival (in April), and a literary festival called the Lewisburg Literary Festival (in August).
