Popular Destinations in Jordan
Amman
Amman, the capital and most populous city of Jordan, is the political,
cultural, and economic centre of the country. This city is situated in
north-central Jordan and is said to be among the most liberal and
westernized Arab cities. Amman is a prime tourist destination in the
region, particularly among the European travel junkies. Some of the major
tourist attractions in the city include Amman Citadel, Roman Theater, King
Abdulla-I Mosque, and more.
Aqaba
Jordan’s gateway to the Red Sea, Aqaba crowns the tip of the salty water
with a mix of palm-spotted promenades and lovely sand beaches. The
luxurious resort hotels at Tala Bay are converting the city into an ideal
seaside escape in the Middle East. While here, tourists can check out the
date trees of the Shatt Al-Ghandour, tour the prehistoric ruins of Tall
Hujayrat Al-Ghuzlan, or can choose to go for scuba diving in the waters.
Petra
One of the most tourist-frequented cities in Jordan, Petra is a place
unlike anywhere else in the country. The city is set out between the
red-hued desert ridges in the southern cores of the country. Petra was
first inhabited in the 4th century BC and was the ancestral capital of the
prosperous Arabian Nabataean civilization, which built the rock-cut
treasuries and temples in the area and made it one of the most important
trading outposts.
