Phnom Penh
Located on the banks of the Tonle Sap and Mekong River, Phnom Penh is the
capital and most populous city in Cambodia. This city has been the national
capital since the French colonization of the country. The city was once
known as the 'Pearl of Asia.' Most tourist attractions in the city reveal
the rich history and illustrious cultural heritage of the city. Some of the
major tourist attractions in Cambodia include Royal Palace, Cambodia
National Museum, River Boat Cruises and Independence Monument to name a
few.
Siem Reap
A resort town in northwestern Cambodia, Siem Reap is the gateway to the
ruins of Angkor. Angkor was the seat of the Khmer kingdom from the 9 th- 15th centuries. Currently, the vast complex of Angkor’s
intricate stone buildings includes preserved Angkor Wat, pictured on
Cambodia’s flag. As a modern gateway to the archaeological site, Siem Reap
features large resorts, boutique hotels, and several galleries. Angkor
National Museum in Siem Reap features Khmer artifacts, encompassing a
display of 1,000 Buddha statues and images. Old French Quarter of the city
offers visitors with excellent restaurants serving local food. Old Market
and the Angkor Night Market put on sale the wares like souvenirs, spices,
and books.
Koh Rong
An island in the Sihanoukville Province of Cambodia, Koh Rong is popular
for its sandy coves and coral reefs. In the south of the island is located
Jewelorchids, a zoo home to snakes, butterflies, and birds. The lively
Police Beach of Koh Rong is an excellent party spot. High Point Rope Park
is an apt place to visit for adventure enthusiasts as it features rope
walks, suspension bridges, and zip lines.
