Tortola
The largest and the most populated of the British Virgin Islands, Tortola
is a beautiful island with Powdery white-sand beaches, yacht-filled
harbors, and lush green mountains. This island is an ideal place for beach
lovers as its northern coast has the excellent beaches where visitors can
enjoy activities such as scuba diving, sailing, kite boarding, surfing, and
windsurfing. There are also several historic sites and gardens in the
island. Some of the major tourist attractions in Tortola include Brewers
Bay, Cane Garden Bay, and J.R. O'neal Botanic Gardens.
Road Town
Road Town is the capital of the British Virgin Islands. The city is
situated on the horseshoe-shaped Road Harbor. In Road Town, there is a 28
hectares development area called Wickham's Cay. This area includes two
regions that were reclaimed from the sea and a marina. History buffs must
visit the HM Prison on Main Street. It is the oldest building in Road Town,
built in 1774.
Anegada
Anegada, one of the British Virgin Islands, is a part of a volcanic group
of islands in the Caribbean Sea. It is a low-lying coral island popular for
secluded beaches like Cow Wreck Beach and Loblolly Bay. There are also
several waterside restaurants featuring Anegada lobster. Anegada is home to
rock iguanas, flamingos, and rare plant species like sea lavender. Nature
lovers can visit the Horseshoe Reef, rich in marine life and lined with
shipwrecks.
