Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is a Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. It was built in the early 20th century in memory of the 200,000 Russian, Ukrainian, Belorussian and Bulgarian soldiers, who died in the Russo-Turkish War, 1877–1878. It is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world. The cathedral’s gold-plated dome & bell tower are 45 & 50.52 meters high respectively. It can accommodate nearly 10,000 people. The temple has 12 bells with total weight of 23 tons, the heaviest weighing 12 tons and the lightest 10 kilograms. The interior is decorated with Italian marble in various colors, Brazilian onyx, alabaster, and other luxurious materials. The central dome has the Lord’s Prayer inscribed around it, with thin gold letters.
National History Museum

Boyana Church
The Boyana Church is situated at the foot of Mt. Vitosha, in the suburb of the city. It is one of the few complete and perfectly preserved mediaeval monuments testifying to the significant contribution of Bulgarian monumental painting to European culture in the Middle Ages. The Church consists of three buildings; first is the Eastern Church, a two storey building (second church), and the third church was built at the beginning of the 19th century. This site is one of the most complete and perfectly preserved monuments of east European medieval art. From an architectural point of view, Boyana Church is a pure example of a church with a Greek cross ground-plan with dome, richly decorated facades and decoration of ceramic elements. It is one of the most remarkable medieval monuments with especially fine wall paintings.
National Gallery for Foreign Art
The National Gallery for Foreign Art in Sofia is the only one of its kind in the Balkans.
