The National Museum of Tanzania
The National Museum of Tanzania is a group of 5 Tanzanian museums in Dar es Salaam. They are the Village Museum, the National History Museum, the Arusha Declaration Museum and the Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere Memorial Museum. This consortium is led by the fifth museum in the list - Dar es Salaam National Museum, which is dedicated to King George V and was established in 1934. Askari Monument
The Askari Monument in Dar es Salaam stands as a proud reminder to the askari soldiers who had participated in the First World War under the British Carrier Corps. It is located in the geographical center of Downtown Dar es Salaam and is zeroed-in at a roundabout between Samora Avenue and Maktaba Street. Unveiled in 1927, the monument is focally known for a bronze statue of a Tanzanian soldier and is called ‘The Askari.’ The solider is mounted on a pedestal and is flashing his gun, which is pointed towards the Dar es Salaam harbour.
