The Double-Barreled Cannon
The Double-Barreled Cannon was an experimental cannon designed during American Civil War. It was built on a 17th century Italian concept in which cannon could be used to shoot twin cannonballs that were linked through a chain. However, some miscalculation on the designer’s part rendered the Double Barreled Cannon almost useless for all practical purposes. Ironically, the cannon still points in the northern direction to signify defiance against the Northern Yankee Forces against whom it was built to fight.
