A modern fleet Although the airline operated of aircrafts, many of them were poorly maintained. The airline started experiencing long delays on the, especially on its routes from Madrid. After an investigation, the Dirección General de Aviación Civil asked the airline to reduce the frequency of flights. Hence, because of the irregularity of the flights to Mexico City, the airline cancelled its operations to Toluca and Milan. The airline finally ceased operations on 16 December 2006 leaving millions of passengers stranded in Latin America.
