Founded on February 19, 2018, Air Italy is a privately owned Italian airline, having its headquarters in Olbia. On February 19, 2018, AQA Holding announced the official rebranding of Meridiana to Air Italy at a press conference in Milan. On March 1, 2018, Air Italy officially commenced operations. Air Italy has its hub at Milan-Malpensa Airport, and has its Focus City at Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport. The airline’s subsidiaries include - Air Italy Fleet Management, Meridiana Maintenance, and Wokita. With a fleet of 11 aircraft, Air Italy operates scheduled flights to 34 domestic, European, and Intercontinental destinations.
Classes of Service
Air Italy features two classes of service - Classe Economica, and Electa. The airline often refers to Classe Economica as the Tourist Class. In all its national flights, only Classe Economica is offered. Few medium and long-haul flights flying to the Greek, Balearic, Canary, Moldavia, Egypt and Israel islands also offers only Classe Economica.
Classe Economica
- Air Italy serves a selection of hot and fresh beverages to all its Classe Economica passengers. This is served as a snack, breakfast or cold meal depending on the flight’s take-off time and duration of flight. For all flights with a duration of over 5.5 hours, a hot meal is also served.
- The airline offers a baggage allowance of 1 bag of 23 kgs maximum in Classe Economica.
Electa
- Electa features 12 comfortable seats for all European medium-haul international flights.
- The airline offers a baggage allowance of 2 bags each of 32 kgs max in Electa.
- Air Italy’s long-haul international flights feature 18 comfortable Electa armchairs.
- The airline also offers comfortable duvets and a complimentary set of eye mask, socks, toothpaste and toothbrush kit in-line with travelers’ comfort.
- All travelers are welcomed with a welcome drink. This is followed with a selection of tasty snacks, cold dishes, wines and a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages on all its international medium-haul international flights.
- Travelers on long-haul international flights are also served a main-course Italian meal and a snack or a breakfast, depending on the flight’s departure time.
- Passengers can also enjoy a wide range of coffee, tea, herbal teas, soft drinks, fruit juices, beer and various types of alcoholic beverages. This service may be chargeable.
